Rediscovering innovation in a huge multinational packaging producer like Smurfit Kappa is not a challenge for the faint hearted. With over 12 plants across Ireland and more across 32 different countries, we assigned a team of enthusiastic leaders to believe in the strategy for change and share it among the groups within Smurfit Kappa Ireland.
The aim, to identify new opportunities which will lead to new products and services that would driver major growth. The scope of this project included customizing an Innovation management process specific to Smurfit Kappa needs. This Innovation management process would be used by its manufacturing plants, to maintain an ethos of innovation and a quality of idea generation and management throughout its various R&D projects within the Smurfit Kappa group.
From the outset we focused on putting together the right team and the right innovation process that would deliver this innovation strategy for Smurfit Kappa Ireland. We trained key personnel within the organisation on how to use practical tools to manage innovation, uncovering unmet needs and integrate those insights into new and existing Smurfit Kappa projects within the group, delivering positive change for Smurfit Kappa.
